Omni Park is a 7-acre public, green space that is equipped with a skate fixture, community event space, mobile library, and public art installation highlighting the community members and culture of South Florida. It is also host to live performances, the Boho Market, and other programs. With the help of the CRA, the once blighted & unused land is now a green accessible playground. Join us for the grand opening on March 17th!
As the District 2 Commissioner for the City of Miami and the Chairman of the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Ken Russell is first and foremost an activist for improving residents’ quality of life. Prior to being elected, he led an organized effort to clean up a contaminated park in his neighborhood. In his day job as a water sports equipment wholesaler, he helped organize races that have raised tens of thousands in support of charities such as Big Brothers Big Sisters.
During his time as Commissioner and Chairman, he has worked to promote forward-thinking transit solutions, increase public participation, promote urban rehabilitation through green spaces, prioritize smart development, provide solutions to homelessness, develop affordable housing initiatives, and shape Downtown as a global hub of commerce, finance, and culture. He has also tackled broader issues like sea level rise, the living wage, and social justice for marginalized communities.
